Why is Mental Wellbeing vital?

The World Health Organisation describes mental wellbeing as ‘a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community’.

A key factor for mental wellbeing in the workplace is a person’s resilience to stress and their ability to adapt to other adverse conditions that may arise through the working environment.  This could include the quality of relationships with colleagues, unexpected changes to workload or job role, and a range of other factors.

How does Mental wellbeing affect business?

There’s a strong business, and moral, case for organisations to promote good mental wellbeing for everyone. Actively promoting wellbeing leads to greater staff productivity, morale and retention, and reduced sickness absence and presenteeism.

Employees who are experiencing poor mental wellbeing may suffer from a lack of motivation and commitment to their work.  The relationships they have with their colleagues and clients may deteriorate and because of the close links between mental and physical wellbeing, their physical health may also begin to suffer.

Businesses who proactively address the risk factors that lead to poor mental wellbeing stand to benefit long term.

Create an environment to support good mental wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is one of the 5 Pillars of Wellbeing, a framework that underpins and forms our Wellbeing Score.

By answering questions relating to your wellbeing strategy and your current support, we help businesses understand what they are doing well, what gaps they may have and where they may be able to improve things.

Once you have your wellbeing score.  You can get tailored recommendations through the platform, and our awesome team are on hand to help guide and support you.
